Summer School 2010 Orchestral Course (2nd-28th August)

The Co-Opera Co. 2010 Summer School will be a truly exciting learning experience. Following the tremendous success of the 2009 season ( La Boheme & Albert Herring) Co-Opera Co. has again brought together a fantastic team to share and pass on their knowledge, passion and experience.

As part of Co-Opera Co’s orchestra course you will learn from the inside how to be part of an opera orchestra. You will thoroughly learn and perform repertoire pieces (Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and Puccini’s La bohème) as well as performing concerts featuring famous extracts from other popular operas.

You will discover the art of skillful accompaniment; listening and responding not only to each other but also to the singers on stage. In particular, you will learn the importance of flexibility and quick thinking! Some of the most expert opera orchestra players and orchestra managers in the UK will be on-hand to give sectional tuition and offer advice on how to develop a career in an opera orchestra.

Working with some of the most exciting conductors in Europe, the month-long course will give you invaluable first-hand experience of all the skills necessary to be a successful operatic performer.

Boheme & Figaro will then go on a UK tour from September 2010 and players chosen for the summer course will be employed for up to  11 dates over the forthcoming months. See here for tour dates : http://www.co-opera-co.org/html/productions.html
